The AWARD of DISTINCTION IN CONCERT PERFORMANCE

Each year, at state and regional band association large ensemble assessment events, concert bands are adjudicated and rated in performance. While many fine bands will earn the top rating of Superior, it is often true that a few of these bands will stand out as exceptional among the many. It is for the recognition of these bands that the ASBDA Award of Distinction in Concert Performance exists.  This special recognition will be given to those bands that earn a perfect score – all Superior ratings, in all categories, from all judges both stage and sight-reading.

School bands that qualify for the Award of Distinction in Concert Performance, whether the director is an ASBDA member or not, should apply for it immediately following their regional Concert Performance Event. The award will be presented by a Tennessee ASBDA member at your Spring band concert, awards banquet or other event you identify. To apply for the award, please complete the online application via the link below. Completing the application does require that you scan and upload copies of your adjudication sheets from this year’s CPA event.

So that awards can be processed and arrangements can be made with presenters, meeting the application deadline is critical.  Only bands whose directors complete the application by the deadline will be eligible to receive the award. You may apply for the award only during the school-year in which qualifications were met.
